R.J. De Vera Campaigns
RO_JA Racing Acura RSX Drag Car for 2002 Season

Las Vegas, October 30, 2001
- R.J. De Vera announced today at the 2001 SEMA show in Las Vegas that he will campaign a specially-built Acura RSX Type-S pro drag car during the 2002 racing season.
“Full-time professional drag racing has been a goal of mine since the early ‘90s when I began modifying my own Hondas and Acuras,” said De Vera.
“The new RSX is proving to be one of the best performance vehicles from Acura yet. I’m looking forward to being one of the first on the track with it.”
American Honda will support De Vera’s race program throughout the 2002 racing season by providing parts support.
De Vera will be making his debut as a professional drag racer, but he is no stranger to competition. Since 1994 he has competed on drag strips and road courses in various cars, go-karts and even open wheel Formula Fords.
De Vera is expected to compete in the Pro-Drag classes of multiple sanctioning bodies such as the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), the National Import Racing Association (NIRA) and others.

“R.J. has earned a lot of respect over the years in many different aspects of the performance aftermarket,” said Jim Roach, vice president of parts. “It’s an honor to support his racing efforts and this is a unique opportunity for both Acura and R.J. De Vera to demonstrate their high-performance potential.”
De Vera is considered by many to be an ambassador in the import-car culture and has found success in multiple avenues of the business.
He is an accomplished writer and photographer for various magazines, his customized vehicles have dominated the show circuit, he started his own mail order parts business at the age of 17, he works as a consultant to design new products and marketing plans for aftermarket companies, and has most recently started his own signature series of wheels with Motegi Racing.
His numerous award winning project cars include the RE Works Project Acura NSX, RE Works/Versus Honda S2000 and numerous other Honda and Acura project vehicles.

De Vera is also an actor,
appearing in an ARCO television commercial and the movie
The Fast and the Furious.
De Vera’s latest business endeavor involves Bum & Roh, Inc.,
a company that will soon be distributing high performance parts and aero kits developed through RO_JA Engineering Works, De Vera’s high performance engineering company.
