The Signal Auto S15 has also been exposed with this tour to the USA with
a trip to the Bonneville Salt Flats. Going straight rather than sliding
in a drift the
Signal S15 had a top speed of
194.725 MPH going thru the traps at Bonneville.
Mr. DAi Inada with the Signal crew set out to break
210 mph but the rising thermometer held the boost levels down.
Traction issues of the salt flats were something new to the Signal crew
holding the top speeds down to still awe inspiring speeds.
One
look at the SR22 DET
with huge turbo laying down over 700 WHP will send any tuner into a drooling,
pants wetting frenzy. Excuse me
while I stand here in awe. The Street Tuners crew wants one but we will
settle for an up close look at this
wunder-drifter.
The Signal crew took the SR20DET and called upon TODA to supply
their stroker kit to and turned the Nissan motor into a SR22DET. Up ping
the bore to 87mm x 92mm stroke. Added to the mix an Apex'I 1.8mm head
gasket keeps boost in-check. Tomei rocker arms, and Toda cams featuring
68 degrees and 11mm lift along with adjustable Toda cam gears dial in
the timing. Final head assembly by Signal featuring a complete port and
polish job.
Internally Trust H-Beam rods control the Toda slugs with standard Nismo
bottom end fare.
An ARC oil pan with large capacity feeds the Trust oil cooler and an Signal
catch can keep the fluids where they belong.
Trust also supplied the huge
T88-33D turbo fed thru a
Trust exhaust manifold.
A type R waste gate and blow-off valve, and a Trust Profec B-spec boost
controller keep the boost regulated thru a
huge Trust 3 row front mount intercooler.
Fuel delivery is regulated by 2 Bosch fuel pumps, and a Sard fuel regulator,
and a HKS F-Con V Pro feed the 850cc injectors.
A
Trust 6 speed sequential tranny is matched to a Exedy twin-plate clutch.
Which is chilled by an ARC tranny cooler. Adding to the drool factor is
an Trust Carbon Fiber drive shaft and a
Cusco type RS limited slip deferential with a
4.3 final gear ratio.
