Bird's S2000

When Honda introduced
the S2000 for the millennium.
The automotive world was
shocked that Honda would
for all practical purposes
offer to the public such an awesome performer .
From the rear wheel drive
to the 120 horse power / liter engine with an amazing
rev limit of 9,000 . This 2 seater was an instant hit .

However where there are tuners there will be someone who will attempt to improve on such great performer in the S2000.
Once such tuner is " Bird "
know far and wide for his rep. Bird wanted to see what the S2000 could be turned into with a little help from his friends at
Drag / Blitz / Veilside / Turbonetics

What you see here is a
collaboration of some the best

Bird has a style that we here
at Street Tuners call
Subtle Seduction.
No huge wings or gaudy graphics h , just pure performance and subtle
enhancements in the looks department .

For a little more performance
Turbonetics was called on to provide a T3 / T4
hybrid Turbo with a ballbearing on the compressor side .
No internal work or even adjustable cam gears were needed to up the horsepower to the 270 @ the rear wheels. But more impressive is the torque curve. At 3,000 rpm the S2000 spins
the rollers at 180 ft/lb of torque.
Bird wanted a daily driven car that could stand up to the abuse of red light to red light traffic. In our test drive we were much impressed with the overall performance of this S2000.
While the overall number may not impress some the
drive -ability with power on tap anywhere in the powerband impressed us the most .
We could hardly notice or feel the V-tec kick in .
Even in 6 th gear cruising at 50 mph a stomp on the pedal sent us back into the seats.
All this with only 6 lbs max boost on pump gas.
Only once in our test session did the blow-off valve actuate. Quick spool -up of the turbo was astounding ,
almost un-noticeable.

With the boost upped to 8lbs Bird has hit
325 hp at the wheels . One can only wonder what that
set - up feels like . We were much impressed with the
4 - 5 lbs of boost that we were regualted to during our test drive.

The huge list of mods to Bird's
S2000 is not limited to just under the hood. The interior has seen
upgrades to the leather upholstery,
Steering wheel , gauge pillar , to the heads - up boost levels displayed on the front windshield .

Bird's S2000 has seen the knife
in the trunk area sporting
Memphis Audio sound
upgrades .

Bird has had his S2000
featured at Nopi Nats ,
December edition of
Super Street in the Blitz ad . And will be traveling the show circuit this coming 2002 season .

Not content with this beast , Bird has new plans in the works
As this article is written his B20 CRX is in Kali is undergoing a major facelift. Also in the works is a twin - turbo NSX .
